New Minister

This Parish seeks an energetic and youthful-minded priest, who values lay ministry, works well with children and youth, will attract new families and is sensitive to the needs of rural people.

If you are the type of person who has strong family values and can enjoy all the benefits and challenges of a small town Parish, we have something to offer you! Our priest needs to give strong leadership in the development and maintenance of the relationship between the Parish and the Bishop and to keep him abreast of the life of the Parish.

What MacDowall has to offer:

    * A place where even the people who never come to church know your name!
    * A place where you are encouraged to work ecumenically with the Roman Catholic Church.
    * A place where you will know your neighbours.
    * The opportunity to raise a family without the problems of some urban centres.
    * Both communities are small,
    * Both communities are close to Prince Albert, (population, 40,000) and Saskatoon (with over 250,000).
    * A place where people don’t always feel the need to lock their doors to feel safe.
    * A place where you can ‘drop in’ on people for coffee most any time.
    * A place where annual fall suppers attract people from many miles away (as many as 800!) and everyone in the community donates food and hours of work whether they come to church or not.
    * An opportunity to be a true parish priest. Many people who live in the geographical parish, but are not active in another church, will consider you to be their priest - even though they don’t actively engage in the faith life of the church. This can provide rewarding and challenging opportunities for pastoral care.
    * A place where kids can ride their bikes safely to the skatepark and play safely.
    * Peace and tranquillity with the bonus of being close to a soon to be twinned highway.
    * An active Lions and Lionesses club in MacDowall.

What St. Louis has to offer:

    * A charming rural village atmosphere.
    * A credit union.
    * A bowling alley.
    * Two restaurants.
    * A hockey rink.
    * A meat market
    * A gas bar

We are a rural parish with, we believe, a lot to offer. For the last three years our finances have steadily improved. Our bills are all paid up, including our Apportionment and Ministerial costs. We have a great community spirit and enjoy working together for one another and for our neighbours.

Parish Goals

    * To be a faithful and caring worshipping community.
    * To carry the Word of God to those in need, by witnessing our faith.
    * To be wise stewards and to return to being a self supporting church.
    * To attract families/households into active life in the parish and to bring inactive families back into parish life.
    * To maintain an active Sunday School to continue to serve the children of our parish.

Expectations of Our Priest

    * Hospital visitations.
    * Parishioner visitation.
    * Participation in community events.
    * Bible Study sessions.
    * Biblically-based sermons with application to our daily lives
    * Good relationship with the Roman Catholic Priest in St. Louis

We wonder what God has in store for this Parish and its people, but we know that He will always meet our needs.

We continue to pray for God’s direction for us.
